Filing for Elected Office

Candidates may file for Nobles County Offices, including County Commissioner, Sheriff, County Attorney, and Soil and Water Conservation Districts, as well as State Legislative and Judicial seats. Candidates in Nobles County must file in person at the Auditor-Treasurer's office on the 2nd floor of the Government Center located at 315th 10th St, Worthington, MN. Steps Needed to File for Office as a Candidate

  • All candidates must file an Affidavit of Candidacy. A candidate must declare the office they are seeking, are an eligible voter, that they haven't filed an affidavit for another office in the same election, they meet the qualifications for the office, and the name listed is their true or commonly known name in the community. The affidavit must be witnessed by a Notary Public or other officer empowered to take and certify acknowledgement.

  • All candidates must submit a Campaign Financial Certification of Filing form. [PDF, 142.44 KB] Click on Campaign Finance Reporting for more information.
  • All candidates must submit a filing fee. Must be paid at the time of filing the Affidavit of Candidacy. For county offices, the fee is $50. For Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor, the fee is $20. Check, cash, and debit/credit cards (with a processing fee) can be accepted.
  • Once the election office receives the completed forms and filing fee, the candidate gets a confirmation copy of the accepted filing, and their candidacy is recorded in the state's candidate filing system.
