Data Centers Public Comment Period until 4:00 p.m. on March 6, 2026.

Nobles County Planning and Zoning Commission made the following recommendation at the public hearing held 2-4-2026.
1.) To accept the definition of Data Centers as listed below:
Definition – Data Center Data Center – a large group of networked computer servers typically used by organizations for the remote storage, processing, or distribution of large amounts of data to include the following common types:  Enterprise Data Centers: Owned and operated by a single organization for its own internal use, offering maximum control but requiring significant investment and management.  Colocation Data Centers: Companies rent space, power, and cooling for their own servers in a shared facility, providing flexibility without full ownership.  Cloud Data Centers: Virtualized environments hosted by third-party providers (AWS, Google Cloud), offering immense scalability and pay-as-you-go models for various services.  Hyperscale Data Centers: Extremely large-scale cloud facilities built for massive storage and processing, supporting global cloud services. 2.) RECOMMENDATION OF: No change to the Nobles County Zoning Ordinance. This recommendation will not allow for data centers to apply for location anywhere in the Agricultural Preservation area of the County.
Nobles County Planning and Zoning Commission officially opened the public comment period until 4:00 p.m. on March 6, 2026.
