Purpose:  The Public Works Director has overall responsibility for managing budgets and staff for multiple functions managed through the Public Works Department. The Director works in concert with the County Administrator to develop annual and long range plans as well as operating and capital budgets.  Serves as the principal communicator for the Public Works Department and is the Engineer of Record for Nobles County.

Emergency Manager/Deputy County Administrator

Purpose:  The Emergency Manager/Deputy County Administrator leads all efforts related to Emergency Management for Nobles County to ensure compliance with the state Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) criteria. This position assists in performing executive leadership, managerial work, and safety-compliance administration as delegated by the County Administrator and represents the County Administrator in his/her absence.

Property Appraiser I – Assessor Department – 2 positions

Full-time

Purpose:  Supports the daily activities of the Nobles County Assessor’s office in valuation, assessment, and administrative fields. Qualifications: high school diploma, or GED, with a minimum of one year experience in Real Estate, Carpentry, Appraisal, Administration, Accounting, or a related field. Ability to obtain CMA designation within two years of hire. Valid driver’s license required.

Starting Wage:  $20.95/hour.

Engineering Support Supervisor – Public Works Department

Full-Time

Level 16  Pay Rate $33.39/Hour

The purpose of this position is to assist the Public Works Director in administrating, supervising, and directing activities of the Highway Department.  Duties include but are not limited to: supervision of assigned technical staff, drafts and designs bridge and roadway projects, adds data to GIS systems, directs and inspects construction projects and receives, reviews, and prepares reports.

Job duties include assist engineering staff in engineering construction inspection activities by performing surveying, staking, inspection and testing of materials.   This is a temporary 67 day position.  QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and able to work long hours in a physically demanding job.
