Coronavirus Update

A message from your local public health office regarding Coronavirus (now referred to as COVID-19).  We know that many messages are being distributed through various avenues and some of them can be alarming.    Please be assured that your local public health agency is working in coordination with our local health care providers, emergency management, etc. and has plans in place for situations just like this to help insure that our community is as prepared as we possibly can be.  Certainly this situation is evolving daily but the facts we have today are:

1. The risk to the general population remains low
2. The best thing you can do is to continue to practice everyday preventive actions such as:

      • Avoiding close contacts with people who are sick
      • Staying home if you are sick, except to get medical care
      • Covering your coughs and sneezes with a tissue
      • Washing your hands frequently with warm, soapy water
      • Using alcohol based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol when hand washing is not available.
