Nobles County Sheriff

The Nobles County Sheriff's Department provide police services to the following communities in Nobles County: Bigelow, Brewster, Dundee, Ellsworth, Kinbrae, Leota, Lismore, Round Lake, Rushmore and Wilmont. The department also provides Civil Process Services, Emergency Management Services, and Operates the Jail for all of Nobles County.

Services & Responsibilities

  • Provides full range of law enforcement services for all unincorporated areas of Nobles County
  • Traffic law enforcement—respond to calls for service, investigate motor vehicle accidents and provide traffic law enforcement
  • Enforce boating regulations and investigate drownings throughout the county
  • Provide crime prevention and education services to the public
  • Provide investigative services and preparation for prosecution by the County Attorney for all crimes, including the following special areas:
    • Juvenile Issues
    • Illegal Narcotics
    • Substance Trafficking
    • Welfare Fraud
  • Responsible for service of Civil Process including Sheriff's Sales, special orders from the court and all arrest warrants emanating from the court
  • Work child abuse investigations jointly and separately with Nobles County Family Services
  • Responsible for taking all 911 emergency calls and then dispatching all emergency response units in the county
  • Responsible for security in the courtrooms and adjacent areas
  • Responsible for transporting committed patients and prisoners
  • Responsible for administration and operation of the county jail
  • Provide mutual aid for all other law enforcement departments in the county and surrounding areas
  • Provide specialize in-service training to all employees
  • Coordination of all systems, programs and operations to ensure an integrated response to emergencies, hazards, contaminiation by hazardous materials and natural disasters
  • Coordinate and teach Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) to schools in Nobles County


VINE - Victim Information and Notification Everyday     

The Minnesota VINE system is a service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or Internet to search for information regarding the custody status of their offender and to register to receive telephone and e-mail notification when the offender’s custody status changes. The VINE toll-free number for the Minnesota VINE system is 877-MN4-VINE or 877-664-8463. This service is provided to assist Victims of Crime who have a right to know about their offender's custody status. 

ICE - Victim Notification Program  

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), is committed to protecting the public and ensuring that the rights of victims are carefully observed.  HSI administers the Victim Notification Program which allows eligible victims and witnesses to obtain reliable and timely information regarding a criminal alien's release from custody.  Go to to learn more about the program.
